Considering the development of our military establishment and the future war trend, Armed Forces University, Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, NationalDefenseManagementCollege, and NationalDefenseMedicalCollege were consolidated into the NationalDefenseUniversity in May 8, 2000. It included our main department and colleges in Longtan, Chung Cheng Institute of Technology in Yuanshulin, NationalDefenseManagementCollege in Junghe, and NationalDefenseMedicalCollege and Tri-ServiceGeneralHospital in Neihu. Besides, in Jan 2001 we set up the National Strategic Studies Institute (NSSI) in an eye to become the first class academy in raising defence talent and studying defence issues.
Armed Forces College (the former ArmedForcesUniversity) is the highest academy of our army¡¦s education. Its predecessor is the Ching Dynasty¡¦s MilitaryAcademy, named of ArmyUniversity in the early Minkuo years. It involved three revolution periods including Luta education, Lientsan and Jitsan education, WarAcademy and each general university education, since 1969.
The predecessor of Chung Cheng Institute of Technology is Military Institute of Technology renamed in Oct 1966, according to Ministry of National Defense. It successively came to consolidate with NavyEngineeringCollege and CombinedLogisticSchool; and moved to Yuanshulin, Daxi, Taoyuan until now. The campus is broad with green grass and pines around; the environment is beautiful with new facilities; we are adding new research institutes, opening new colleges, recruiting scholars in order to become the only science and engineering institute of our armed forces.
The predecessor of NationalDefenseManagementCollege, MilitaryNeedCollege, was established in 1912 in Nanking, by military general Hwang Kechiang according to President Sun Yatsun. After times of changes, it was consolidated with NationalDefenseEconomyCollege and renamed as NationalDefenseManagementCollege by ex-general Hao in 1983 in order to strengthen national defense, modernize national forces. In 1988 it has also mergered the law school of PoliticalWarfareCollege (the ex-Military Law College). Its courses include defense and martial officers training, further studying. Recently, due to success in teachers¡¦ development we are actively participating in many researches such as human resource evaluating, production management, information management, computer combat simulator, logistics management, law and order issue¡Ketc.
NationalDefenseMedicalCollege was built in 1901 and is the most historic institute among our military academies. In July 1st, 1983 the educational hospital Tri-ServiceGeneralHospital was formally merged as our direct teaching hospital; our education network became closer. We added doctorate programs and master programs in order to keep up with the development of NationalDefenseMedicalCollege as well as the needs and changes of the time. |
